Melmark is a nonprofit organization providing clinically-sophisticated evidence-based special education, residential, vocational, and therapeutic services for children and adults diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders, developmental and intellectual disabilities, acquired brain injuries, medical complexities, and other neurological and genetic disorders.


Edcuational Coordinator Overview

The Educational Coordinator is responsible for fostering an inclusive and supportive educational environment designed to promote intellectual, emotional, and social growth. They will collaborate in developing/implementing teaching plans that are appropriate to the ages and populations served, specifically children and adolescents (ages 3-21 years) with emotional, developmental and/or behavioral needs. The Educational Coordinator ensures implementation of the curriculum in conjunction with Lead Special Education Teachers, and in collaboration with Massachusetts DESE Educational Administrators. Populations served are intensely challenging. Educational Coordinators are expected to implement highly technical clinical and teaching programs that require them to be constantly alert, attentive and ready to respond to student’s needs.

Educational Coordinator Requirements

  • Masters Degree in Education or Special Education
  • BCBA
  • Severe Special Education certification
  • At least 3 years’ experience in a special education setting and supervisory experience.

Educational Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Serves as a clinician for a caseload of students
  • Completes annual/intake assessments and reports
  • Prepares for IEP meetings, including IEP writing for behavior need area, Behavior Support Plan (BSP) development, Functional Behavior Assessment, Preference Assessment and other supporting documents.
  • Facilitates treatment efficacy by recommending scientifically validated and most effective least restrictive treatment procedures.
  • Holds weekly classroom meetings and completes corresponding training roster and documentation.
  • Ensures all data collection is accurate as prescribed by target behavior and instructional programming.
  • Provides daily in classroom support as prescribed by schedule.
