Key Responsibilities
As a Psychiatrist with YesCare, you will:
- Provide Psychiatric Assessments: Conduct onsite psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment for inmates referred by medical or clinical staff. Document detailed summaries of patient history, diagnosis, and treatment plans.
- Manage Inpatient Care: For applicable settings, provide psychiatric services to inpatients, assess and diagnose their conditions, participate in treatment planning, and conduct regular reviews for all assigned inmates.
- Follow-up Services: Deliver ongoing psychiatric care to inmates in the general population, ensuring mental health follow-up and addressing the needs of those requiring transfer to mental health facilities.
- Mental Health Unit Leadership: Participate in treatment programming and planning for the Mental Health Unit, including regular staffing, collaboration with mental health staff, case discussions, medication management, and general psychiatric input.
- Medication Management: Oversee medication administration for inmates admitted to the Mental Health Unit, ensuring proper management and adherence to prescribed regimens.
- Therapy Services: Provide individual or group therapy for inmates, where appropriate, based on their psychiatric needs.
- Admission/Discharge Approvals: Approve all admissions and discharges from the Mental Health Unit, ensuring proper treatment plans are in place and reviewing their implementation.
- Training & Support: Offer in-service education to Mental Health Unit staff to enhance clinical knowledge and ensure best practices.
- On-Call Availability: Be available on a scheduled basis to respond to the on-call needs of the Mental Health Unit.
- Treatment Audit Committee: Participate in the Treatment Audit Committee, supporting the ongoing review and improvement of mental health services.
Key Qualifications
- Education: Must be a graduate of an accredited medical school and have completed an appropriate psychiatric residency program.
- Licensure: Licensed to practice medicine in the applicable state, with certification from the Office of Mental Health to provide psychiatric services in a licensed inpatient unit.
- DEA Certification: A valid DEA number must be provided.
- Experience: Prior corrections experience is preferred but not required.
- Clearance Requirements: Candidates must pass a background check, security clearance, and drug screening.
