Location and Environment

Fort Wainwright is situated in Interior Alaska, within the Fairbanks North Star Borough, between the Alaska Range and the Brooks Range. It borders the City of Fairbanks to the west and North Pole to the southeast, with the Chena River running through it. The area offers stunning natural phenomena like the aurora borealis and the midnight sun, along with mountains, rivers, lakes, wildlife, and a vibrant local culture.

Responsibilities

Major *

  • Apply biopsychosocial evaluations to develop behavioral health interventions.
  • Provide evidence-based treatments, including behavioral, cognitive, and motivational approaches.
  • Communicate regularly with primary care providers and staff regarding patient status and care recommendations.
  • Implement psychoeducational classes targeting common diagnoses in primary care.
  • Document patient encounters in the electronic health record.

Qualifications

Who May * US Citizens

Applicants must meet education and experience requirements, including relevant volunteer work, with clear documentation in their resumes. Transcripts are required if qualifying through education.

Basic * Doctoral Degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in clinical psychology.

Specialized * At least one year of experience conducting behavioral health assessments, providing treatments, and working in a multidisciplinary team, typical of a GS-12 level position. Education cannot substitute for experience in this case.



Education

Foreign education must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency through a recognized organization. Details available **
