In addition to direct implementation responsibilities, the role offers opportunities to gain indirect supervision hours by supporting BCBAs in key clinical tasks such as training RBTs, leading client teams under supervision, assisting in treatment plan development, report writing, and programming. This experience is intended to fully prepare the candidate for the responsibilities of a BCBA upon certification.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work directly with clients to implement individualized ABA-based treatment plans.
  • Collect accurate, ongoing data on targeted behaviors and skill acquisition programs.
  • Assist in conducting skill assessments (e.g., VB-MAPP, ABLLS-R, AFLS).
  • Participate in functional behavior assessments and contribute to behavior intervention plan (BIP) development.
  • Collaborate with and train RBTs on treatment integrity and clinical strategies.
  • Take lead roles on client teams under the guidance of a supervising BCBA.
  • Assist BCBAs with treatment planning, clinical report writing, and creating or modifying programming.
  • Attend and contribute to clinical team meetings, staff trainings, and supervision sessions.
  • Stay informed on current research and best practices in behavior analysis relevant to caseload.
  • Uphold confidentiality and the ethical standards set by the BACB® Professional and Ethical Compliance Code.
Qualifications:

  • Actively enrolled in a Master’s program in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or a related field.
  • Strong interest in pursuing a career as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  • Excellent communication, observation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a collaborative team member.
  • Must pass background checks and comply with organizational and licensing requirements.

Why Join PlayThinks as a Fieldwork Student?
  • Paid Experience: Hourly or salary opportunities available while completing your supervised fieldwork
  • Indirect Hours: Abundant opportunities to gain indirect hours through treatment planning, report writing, programming, and staff training
  • Diverse Settings: Hands-on experience in clinic, home, and school environments
  • Varied Age Range: Work with clients ages 3 to 18, across developmental levels and support needs
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Be part of a team that includes BCBAs, RBTs, teachers, social workers, OTs, SLPs, and Rabbis
  • Professional Growth: Ongoing training, mentorship, and feedback to prepare you for becoming a confident, competent BCBA

We are seeking a full-time fieldwork student who is available Monday through Friday, 9 AM – 5 PM, with occasional evening availability to support behavior technicians and RBTs during client sessions when needed. We are looking for team members committed to client progress, professional development, and collaborative teamwork.
