About Job

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated School Social Worker to join our team to provide vital support to students and families. This role offers an opportunity to make a significant impact on students' social-emotional development and educational success by delivering direct and indirect counseling services, collaborating with educational teams, and supporting Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

As a key member of our multidisciplinary school team, you will work closely with families, school personnel, and external agencies to support students’ academic and personal growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct and indirect counseling services as outlined in students' IEPs.

  • Complete social developmental studies, cultural, and adaptive behavioral assessments for special education evaluations.

  • Review student referral packets for mental health and social-emotional information.

  • Collaborate with school teams to monitor and report on student progress.

  • Maintain regular communication with parents/guardians to provide support and information related to special education services.

  • Liaise with community organizations, hospitals, and social service agencies to coordinate student services and transitions.

  • Participate in IEP meetings, share student updates, and contribute to treatment planning.

  • Support student attendance and provide same-day follow-up for absences.

  • Contribute to professional development efforts and ongoing program improvement.

  • Encourage student engagement in school and extracurricular activities.

  • Support crisis intervention and implement therapeutic strategies as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education & Licensure:

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related mental health/human services field from an accredited institution.

  • Current Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with a School Social Work Endorsement (Type 73) OR valid LCSW, LSW, LPC, or LCPC.

Experience:

  • 1–2 years of experience in behavioral health.

  • Clinical experience with children/adolescents in individual, group, and family therapy preferred.

  • Strong skills in clinical assessment and crisis intervention.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • Understanding of IEP eligibility, development, and service delivery.

  • Knowledge of therapy techniques, crisis intervention, and therapeutic planning.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Workspace, and IEP documentation systems (e.g., Embrace IEP, Blackbaud LMS, etc.).

  • Familiarity with child/adolescent development and trauma-informed practices.

  • Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license.

  • Adheres to the policies and procedures of Maryville's Walsh Academy.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs.

  • Ability to participate in physical activities with students and intervene physically when necessary.

  • Ability to lift/move objects or students weighing over 40 lbs.

  • Comfortable working on a computer for extended periods.
