Position Overview
As a Peer Support Specialist at Clear Path, you will serve as a mentor, advocate, and connector for Veterans and service members adjusting to post-military life. Drawing from your own experience supporting the Veteran community, you will help others navigate challenges related to housing, employment, health, and access to benefits. The Peer Support Specialists work in the field, build strong community relationships, and guide Veterans through individualized life plans tailored to their personal goals. You will also collaborate closely with Clear Path’s Case Management teams to ensure each Veteran receives consistent, coordinated support.
Key Responsibilities
Veteran Support and Mentorship
- Provide one-on-one peer support to Veterans, with a focus on emotional wellness, crisis prevention, and social connection.
- Assist Veterans in developing and implementing Personal Wellness and Safety Plans that align with their goals and needs.
- Offer Mentorship based on lived experience, modeling resilience, hope, and recovery. Support Veterans in navigating VA systems, behavioral health services, and local community providers.
Outreach and Engagement
- Conduct outreach in the community to identify Veterans who may be experiencing or at risk of homelessness, and refer them to the appropriate resource.
- Establish rapport through shared lived experience and trauma-informed practices.
- Participate in community events and Veteran engagement efforts to increase program visibility and access. Proactively build relationships that reduce stigma around mental health and encourage help-seeking behavior.
Coordination and Collaboration
- Work closely with clinicians, case managers, and community partners to provide integrated, wraparound support.
- Ensure smooth handoffs to appropriate services, including crisis response, therapy, housing, and benefits counseling. Act as an advocate and liaison for Veterans within the larger network of care.
Documentation and Compliance
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential documentation of all outreach, engagement, and peer support activities.
- Collect and submit data as required by the Staff Sergeant Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program (SSG Fox SPGP) for performance tracking and audit readiness.
- Follow all organizational protocols related to privacy, safety, and ethical conduct.
Requirements
- Experience in supporting Veterans, service members, or individuals navigating housing, VA benefits, or recovery service systems.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and relate to others through empathy and shared experience.
- Lived experience with military service, behavioral health recovery, or navigating support systems is strongly valued in this role.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Ability to maintain clear and accurate documentation of client interactions, goals, and referrals. Must pass a background check.

Schedule
- This position follows a rotating shift schedule, alternating weekly between:
- Day Shift: Monday – Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Evening Shift: Monday – Friday; 4:00 p.m. – 12:00 a.m.
- One week will be Day Shift, the following week Evening Shift, then back to Day Shift, and so on.
- Residential Peer Support Specialists will be paired with Residential Case Managers on the same shift to ensure consistent team coverage.
- Weekend and holiday coverage may be required on a rotating basis.

The rotating model is designed to give staff balanced exposure to both daytime and evening resident support, ensuring a well-rounded experience and professional development.
Compensation
The salary range for this position is $45,000 - $48,000 annually. The final offer will be based on experience, qualifications, and available grant funding.Benefits
