School Psychologist Job Description

Provide professional school psychological services for schools in accordance with state, federal, and Ridge Zeller Therapy rules, regulations and/or guidelines.

ESSENTIAL SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST FUNCTIONS, DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrate knowledge of commonly occurring developmental and mental health disorders
  • Write and maintain proper documentation of student evaluation in a timely fashion
  • Work in accordance with applicable principles and scope of practice of a certified school psychologist, Ridge Zeller Therapy policies/procedures, and Arizona/federal regulations/guidelines
  • Collect and interpret student and classroom data
  • Manage time effectively to complete paperwork within the required timelines
  • Demonstrate a team-oriented approach
  • Exhibit professional and friendly interaction with students, families, and colleagues
  • Collaborate and be flexible when working with colleagues and families
  • Represent Ridge Zeller Therapy in the highest professional manner whenever working within the school
  • Assist administrators and teachers in managing student and classroom behavior
  • Assess student emotional and behavioral needs
  • Provide individual and group counseling
  • Promote problem solving, anger management, and conflict resolution
  • Reinforce positive coping skills and resilience
  • Promote positive peer relationships and social problem solving
  • Make referrals to and coordinate services with community-based providers
  • Enhance staff understanding of and responsiveness to diverse cultures and backgrounds
  • Help families understand their children’s learning and mental health needs
  • Assist in navigating special education processes
  • Identify at-risk students and school vulnerabilities
  • Improve school-wide assessment and accountability

  • The person in this position frequently communicates with staff regarding client in both verbal and written form
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations

  • Frequently moves therapy supplies weighing up to 25 pounds into the workroom onto shelves or storage space
