Littleton Academy offers a Core Knowledge based education with a rigorous curriculum that is provided in a safe and caring environment. The Core Knowledge scope and sequence is based on the premise that we have much to learn from our past. Studying the culture-shaping events, texts, scientific theories, and works of art of those who came before us helps our students begin to understand the events of today. We also believe that building a strong person of character is an important part of education. Our goal is to foster honest, respectful, cooperative citizens who demonstrate integrity and perseverance in their daily lives. Littleton Academy is seeking a full-time school counselor to provide behavioral mental health support to students and their teachers. Start date for this position is flexible.
Primary Responsibilities:
- This position works Monday to Friday from 7:45am to 3:45pm, for 180 contract days per year. Our school is closed for Fall Break, Thanksgiving Break, Winter Break, Spring Break, and Summer Break.
- Delivers preventative interventions and counseling support through classroom guidance lessons, small groups, and individual counseling.
- Assess student behaviors and interpersonal functioning related to academic performance; Develop and monitor interventions to help students improve functioning in the school environment
- Provide objective observation and evaluation of student behavior in normative settings (classroom, lunchroom, playground)
- Develop, implement, and supervise behavior plans
- Build rapport with staff and students and serve as the confidential contact for reporting concerns; work directly with teachers on supporting student behavior in the classroom setting
- Identify and monitor at- risk student academic performance, peer interaction, and student/staff interaction
- Act as support/liaison for community-based counseling, district mental health services, and parental concerns/communication regarding mental health issues
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in School Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or related field by start date
- Colorado Special Service Initial License with an Endorsement in School Counseling by start date
- Demonstrated knowledge of child abuse, neglect, and child protection procedures, as well as ALP, 504, RTI, and Special Education Referral process.
- Effective communicator, demonstrated skills in team building, conflict resolution, decision making, time management, safe school planning, and facilitation of psycho-educational counseling groups
- Demonstrated ability in providing differentiation, interventions and extensions for students.
- Previous elementary and middle school counseling experience preferred
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $60,000 to $100,000, commensurate with level of education and years of experience.
