Reports To: SUD Director

Employment Type: FT W2

Compensation: $20 - $23 per hour

Location: On-site, Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 4:30pm EST

Skilled in crisis intervention and trauma-informed care, you remain calm under pressure while fostering hope and self-advocacy. Detail-oriented and collaborative, you work seamlessly with professionals and community organizations to provide comprehensive support, dedicated to healing, growth, and empowerment.

The Job:

As a Certified Peer Support Specialist at Live Benevolent, you will play a crucial role in providing support and guidance to individuals facing mental health challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Peer Support – Provide one-on-one and group support to individuals, fostering a safe, supportive, and non-judgmental environment.
  • Guidance & Advocacy – Assist clients in understanding their rights and navigating systems to access essential resources, including housing, employment, and healthcare.
  • Goal Setting – Collaborate with clients to establish personal recovery goals and develop actionable plans to support their progress.
  • Crisis Intervention – Offer immediate support and intervention as needed, utilizing de-escalation techniques and trauma-informed practices to ensure client safety.
  • Education – Share knowledge of mental health recovery processes, coping strategies, and self-advocacy techniques to empower clients in their journey.
  • Documentation – Maintain accurate, confidential records of peer support sessions and client progress in compliance with state and organizational policies.
  • Collaboration – Partner with mental health professionals and community organizations to coordinate client care and enhance support services.
  • Community Engagement – Participate in outreach initiatives to increase awareness of mental health resources and promote available support services.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma/GED or higher.
  • Certification as a Peer Support Specialist in the state of Maryland.
  • Personal experience with mental health challenges and a demonstrated recovery journey.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong empathy and understanding of the recovery process.
  • Completion of a state-recognized peer support training program.
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems and Microsoft Office Suite / Google Suite.
