Behavior Technician

Position Description


Position: Behavior Technician

Reports to: Behavior Coach

Terms of Employment: 10 months

Pay Grade: 56

FLSA Status: Non-exempt


Nature of Work

To provide behavior support to students identified as having challenging behaviors. This would include students that experience sudden life changes that impact school; are high needs behavior students experiencing a transition ( classroom or school level); have gone through the Behavior support Referral Process and had been identified as needing additional temporary support in order to implement specific aspect of their plans.


Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or GED certificate
  • 48 semester hours of college credit
  • Experience in challenging behavior or autism


Certification and Licensure Requirements (if applicable):


Essential Functions/Typical Tasks

  • To participate as part of the behavioral support team to develop plans for individual students.
  • To be active in the implementation of behavior support plans for individual students.
  • To assist in designing and creating student and classroom support
  • To assist in collecting data on the effectiveness of support and interventions
  • To assist in instruction of social and behavioral skills for individual Attend in instruction of social and behavioral skills for individual students.
  • Perform other duties as assigned. Maintain regular attendance.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed while standing, sitting and/or walking. Position will require the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing and the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations. Work will entail bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching and the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull medium weights, up to 50 pounds.
