About Job

As a member of the Admissions staff at Grand View University, this individual will recruit transfers within an assigned recruitment area, complete communication outreach via phone, email and text, meet with prospective students during campus visits, provide office coverage when needed and provide back-up services to other transfer counselors and coordinate, train and supervise the Admissions Ambassador Team.

Essential Functions of Job:

  • Develop and implement a written, comprehensive plan to recruit students to Grand View University. This plan should include marketing through phone, text, emails, college visits, college fairs, and other field activities appropriate to the marketing of the University and its programs. This plan will encourage students to visit campus, apply, complete financial aid applications and attend Grand View.
  • Maintain electronic information on each prospective student and complete student profile information to move prospects from one level to the next.
  • Coordinate financial aid awarding and follow-up.
  • Assist with the development of information necessary to inform prospective students and other interested parties of admission policies, requirements, and procedures.
  • Plan and participate in campus visit days, departmental action days and scholarship events.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with college counselors, coaches, and faculty to facilitate recruitment of students.
  • Provide pre-admission counseling services for applicants, including interpretation of the transfer admissions process, information on programs offered by the University, and other assistance as needed.
  • Coordinate recruiting activities with academic departments.
  • Coordinate recruiting activities with other admissions staff.
  • Serve on selected committees which support Admissions and the University overall.
  • Maintain confidentiality as appropriate.
  • Participate in professional development to continuously improve skills.
  • Interview, hire and train the Admissions Ambassadors to give tours and complete other duties and tasks as assigned. This includes working visit day programs and scholarship day programs.
  • Manage the student ambassador work study budget.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a normal office setting. Sits, stands, bends, lifts and moves intermittently during working hours. During course of day, maybe interacting with students, faculty, and staff by computer, phone, or in person.

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills needed.
  • Experience in recruiting in a small, private college is desirable.
  • You must be able to travel as needed with some overnight stays: some weekend activities may be required.
  • Regularly scheduled office hours from 8:00 – 4:00, Monday through Friday. Extended evening or weekend hours may be required.
  • A valid driver’s license is required
