DESCRIPTION:
Health Home Unit: $61,020
This position is responsible for providing Mental Health services to clients of the Albany County Department of Mental Health. These duties require helping clients with social, emotional, and related difficulties better manage their behavioral health disorders.
Criminal Justice Unit (CJU): $61,020
This position is responsible for providing Mental Health services to clients of the Criminal Justice Unit. These duties require helping clients with social, emotional, and related difficulties better manage their behavioral health disorders.
Mental Health Court (MHC): $61,020
These positions are responsible for providing Mental Health services to clients of the Mental Health Court. These duties require helping clients with social, emotional, and related difficulties better manage their behavioral health disorders.
Street Psychiatry: $53,526
The new Street Psychiatry Pilot Program will provide behavioral health services to homeless or unhoused residents in Albany County. This position is responsible for providing Mental Health services to homeless or unhoused residents in Albany County. The Street Psychiatry program will meet people directly on the streets, in parks, or other public places. The care manager has the responsibility and accountability for coordinating all aspects of the patient’s care.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER
A. Must be a New York State certified Licenses Master Social Work, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, or Registered Professional Nurse and have two (2) years of experience providing direct services to persons diagnosed with mental disabilities or linking persons diagnosed with mental disabilities to services essential to living in a community setting; OR,
B. Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master’s degree in Forensic Mental Health or closely related field and two (2) years of experience providing direct services to persons diagnosed with mental disabilities or linking persons diagnosed with mental disabilities to services essential to living in a community setting; OR,
C. Graduation from a regional accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years of experience providing direct services to persons diagnosed with mental disabilities or linking persons diagnosed with mental disabilities to services essential to living in a community setting.

Candidates will not have to take an exam for this title. This is a Hiring Emergency Limited Placement (HELP) Program-designated title. The HELP Program is a temporary program designed to help local government employers address current staffing issues. Traditionally, the titles filled under the HELP Program required job candidates to compete in a competitive exam to be considered for employment. For the duration of the program, this title will be classified as non-competitive and categorized as a “HELP Program” position. At the close of the program, this position will revert to competitive class status. Employees occupying positions filled through the HELP Program will be granted competitive class status without the need to participate in a competitive exam.
