Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Social Work
- Temporary or Full Approval as a School Social Worker
- Valid State of Michigan Social Worker
- Strong Assessment Skills
- Experience in working with children and adolescents
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work on a Multidisciplinary Team
- Knowledge of Multiple Tiered Support Services
- Ability to take a lead role in functional behavioral analysis and development of behavior intervention plans
- Conduct home visits as appropriate Maintain accurate and confidential records
Responsibilities
- Provide school social work services to children and their families through individual, group, classroom and community
- Serve as a liaison between the school, home and community in building and maintaining positive relations
- Provide comprehensive diagnostic evaluation for children suspected of having a special education disability
- Coordinate or serve as a member of diagnostic teams and educational planning and placement committees and provide social work assessments for children with adjustment problems
- Coordinate with principals, teachers and other school personnel to improve use of existing school programs and procedures, as well as to plan and implement new programs and procedures related to the educational, social and emotional needs of children.
- Serve as a consultant to classroom personnel and provide direct therapy and intervention service for identified students
- Plan, conduct and implement staff development as appropriate
