Schedule: Full-Time | Evenings required based on program needs

Summary:

The Adult Behavioral Health Therapist is responsible for delivering high-quality outpatient mental health and co-occurring substance abuse services to adult clients and families. This role includes intake assessments, direct treatment, case management, care coordination, and timely documentation to support medical necessity and compliance with funding sources. The ABH program is the client’s largest service line, with over 100 employees and an average caseload of 50 active clients per therapist.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct intake evaluations, assessments, and treatment planning using Person-Centered Planning principles.
  • Provide individual, family, and group therapy for adults with mental health and/or co-occurring substance use disorders.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, primary care providers, schools, and community resources to ensure comprehensive care.
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation and case records in compliance with agency and funding guidelines.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, team meetings, and case consultations to support best practices and program quality.
  • Ensure adherence to state licensure requirements, agency policies, and professional code of ethics.
  • Facilitate effective discharge planning and continuity of care for clients.
  • Complete required 24 hours of professional training annually in adult mental health and co-occurring disorders.
  • Support agency goals by participating in organizational initiatives, trainings, and additional assigned duties.

Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology.
  • Licensure (required within 60–120 days of hire if not active at start):
  • LLMSW, LMSW (Social Work)
  • LLPC, LPC (Counseling)
  • TLLP, LLP (Psychology)
  • Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience (fieldwork/internship accepted) treating or working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness.
  • Credential: Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) credential within 120 days of hire.
  • Skills:
  • Ability to work independently and manage a caseload of ~50 clients.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Cultural competency and ability to engage diverse populations effectively.
  • Ability to build therapeutic relationships with clients and collaborative relationships with staff and community providers.
