MUST: WILLING TO SEEK LADAC LICENSURE

SUD EXPERIENCE PREFERRED BUT NOT REQUIRED

We are seeking a Counselor I to provide compassionate and evidence-based support for individuals in recovery. The Counselor I will be responsible for delivering therapeutic services, facilitating group and individual counseling, and supporting clients in their journey toward sobriety and overall well-being. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, empathy, and the ability to foster a safe and supportive treatment environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct intake assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for clients.
  • Facilitate group therapy, individual counseling, and educational sessions focused on substance use disorders and mental health.
  • Monitor client progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with state, federal, and organizational guidelines.
  • Collaborate with medical and clinical staff to coordinate client care and treatment interventions.
  • Provide crisis intervention and emotional support to clients as needed.
  • Educate clients and their families on addiction, recovery strategies, and relapse prevention techniques.
  • Adhere to all ethical guidelines and confidentiality policies in line with HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in team meetings, training, and continuous professional development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic techniques, counseling theories, and behavioral health best practices.
  • Ability to manage caseloads effectively and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build rapport with clients.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic techniques, counseling theories, and behavioral health best practices.
  • Ability to manage caseloads effectively and work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems is a plus.
  • Lead educational groups on a range of topics related to addiction, recovery, and well-being.
  • Co-facilitate process groups with licensed therapists.
  • Develop and lead specialty expressive or experimental groups unique to your interests, expertise, and qualifications while meeting all required certifications and regulatory standards.
  • Review assignments with patients.
  • Provide one-to-one support sessions in alignment with treatment plan and therapist guidance.
  • Leverage de-escalation skills to ensure patient safety and reduce AMA risk.
  • Maintain and promote healthy boundaries.
  • Respond and participate as assigned to emergency codes.
  • Document attendance, individual participation, and response to groups.
  • Summarize content and tone of each patient meeting.
  • Work with therapists and treatment team in developing patient goals, treatment plan, and aftercare plan.
  • Learn and follow company-established policies and procedures and maintain adherence to established skills and practice according to position.
  • Remain current with all required trainings and certifications.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Degree in Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. Master degree highly preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with substance use disorders and mental health populations preferred.
  • CADC (Certified Alcohol & Drug Counselor) or LADC (Licensed Alcohol & Drug Counselor) preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience in similar role required.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and a criminal background check.
