Position Purpose
Mercy Care Atlanta is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Addiction Outreach Counselor to join our mission-driven team. This role provides vital community-based support to individuals experiencing homelessness and struggling with substance use disorders. Working directly in encampments, under bridges, and on sidewalks, you will serve as a lifeline—connecting clients to treatment, recovery services, and hope.
What You Will Do
As a Certified Addiction Outreach Counselor, you will:
- Conduct proactive outreach to engage persons experiencing homelessness (PEH) with substance use disorders.
- Build trusting relationships and maintain an active caseload of 20–25 clients.
- Provide brief interventions, screenings, and promote treatment readiness.
- Assist clients in accessing detox, medication-assisted treatment (MAT), and recovery services.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external partners to ensure holistic care.
- Maintain accurate documentation and case notes in compliance with organizational standards.
- Support clients in accessing psychiatric, medical, and social services tailored to their needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or Human Services.
- Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC-I) or equivalent.
- Current SAP certification in good standing (Georgia or National Addiction Counselors Association).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in mental health or social services.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
- Compassionate, non-judgmental, and culturally sensitive approach.
- Valid Georgia driver’s license (must be comfortable driving company vehicles, including a 12-passenger van).
