Position: Aftercare Counselor

Schedule: Monday–Friday 2PM-6PM

Key Responsibilities

1. Supervision & Safety

  • Maintain attentive, active supervision of all children during after-school hours.
  • Monitor behavior and use positive, respectful management strategies.
  • Ensure safe transitions between activities, snack time, and pick-up.

2. Structure & Engagement

  • Follow and maintain the daily program schedule.
  • Keep activities running smoothly and on time.
  • Lead age-appropriate activities including arts, crafts, games, and group projects.
  • Encourage social interaction, creativity, and teamwork.

3. Professionalism & Collaboration

  • Work cooperatively with school staff to support program goals.
  • Communicate effectively with families about student progress and behavior.
  • Attend monthly staff meetings and scheduled training as required.
  • Remain flexible and adaptable to changing schedules, student needs, and program adjustments.

4. Multitasking & Organization

  • Balance supervision, activity leadership, homework assistance, and snack distribution efficiently.
  • Help with cleaning and maintaining program spaces to keep them safe and inviting.
  • Take attendance and maintain accurate daily records.

Qualifications & Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent (college coursework in education or child development a plus).
  • Prior experience working with children in a school, camp, or youth program preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid certification preferred (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication, multitasking, and time management skills.
  • Ability to adapt to changing needs and work as part of a team.
  • Physically able to participate in active games and lift up to 40–50 lbs.

Job Types: Part-time, Contract, Temporary

Pay: $15.00 - $22.00 per hour
