Overview

Valley Vital Care is a locally owned and independent infusion pharmacy who is seeking a Specialty Intake candidate with strong communication and time management skills, extreme attention to detail and accuracy, have in-depth knowledge of insurance benefit verification and be able to work well on a team. Interpersonal skills are a must for this position. While we are rapidly growing, day-to-day operations tend to be fast paced and require an individual who is self-motivated and has the ability to make quick logistical and best practice decisions. The Intake Specialist hired for this position will also work with our team to continue to develop and implement ideas for delivering high quality, cost-effective services. Responsibilities

  • The Specialty Intake Coordinator role is a full-time position responsible for providing patient access to specialty medication and therapies needed by working with our internal authorization team to obtain prior authorization approval and verifying the patient’s health insurance eligibility, benefits, coverage/non-coverage information and initiation/extension of authorizations.
  • Enter all required demographic, physician, insurance, authorization, and other information into our intake portal for verification.
  • Conduct comprehensive benefit investigation for new patient referrals and evaluate pharmacy benefit plans and medical benefit plans to help determine product for authorization approval.
  • Review incoming faxed specialty prescription orders and attach to new or existing patient profile.
  • Coordinate with Account Executives and/or office to obtain any missing information in a timely manner to ensure authorization is submitted and obtained quickly.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with referring offices with information and correspondence regarding referrals.
  • Perform timely follow up on authorizations until approved.
  • Communicate with patients, physicians, and other departments (account executives) on benefits and the status of authorization requests.
  • Communicate denials to physicians’ offices and/or Account Executives and provide follow up details on the peer to peer or appeal options.
  • Regularly communicate the status of the intake process to other departments, including Nursing, Pharmacy and Sales.
  • Document in the patient’s clinical record progress notes, all requests and conversations for the purposes of seamless coordination of care.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Two years of experience in intake and/or collecting referral information in the healthcare market preferred.
  • The ideal candidate should have outstanding communication and time management skills, extreme attention to detail and accuracy, have in-depth knowledge of insurance benefit verification and be able to work well on a team.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician license strongly preferred.
  • A high school diploma or general education degree (GED) equivalent is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
