**Overview**

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School Counselor to join our school community. As a vital member of our team, you will provide support to students, parents, and teachers to foster a safe, inclusive, and nurturing learning environment. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities, as well as a commitment to promoting their academic, personal, and social growth.

**Responsibilities**

- Provide individual and group counseling to students, addressing issues related to academic performance, social relationships, and mental health.

- Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and parents to develop and implement individualized support plans for students with special needs.

- Conduct classroom guidance lessons to promote social skills, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence.

- Offer academic advising to students, helping them set goals and develop strategies for achieving academic success.

-Perform suicide and threat assessments.

-Create, maintain, and monitor student 504 plans and accommodations.

- Support students experiencing challenges related to child welfare, ensuring their needs are met and advocating for their well-being.

- Foster a positive and inclusive school culture, providing culturally sensitive counseling to students from diverse backgrounds.

- Develop and maintain relationships with local community agencies and organizations to provide additional resources for students and families.

-Stay current with best practices in school counseling, participating in professional -development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.

**Skills**

- Experience working with children and providing individual and group counseling services.

- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with students, parents, and teachers.

- Experience working in special education settings and with students with varying abilities and needs.

- Knowledge of child welfare and mental health counseling principles and practices. - Familiarity with academic advising and the ability to support students in setting and achieving their academic goals.

- Commitment to promoting cultural diversity and addressing the needs of students from diverse backgrounds.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,597.00 - $60,000.00 per year
