This is a part time position scheduled Monday – Friday 2p -6p. The pay is $14 -15 per hour depending upon experience and qualifications. This position is onsite at our center located: 1264 S Rio Grande Ave, Orlando FL 32805
Our Afterschool Counselors guide and help develop our youth in multiple facets of life including academics, communication, sociability, and independence. You’ll have the opportunity to work as a member of a team and be a role model for children by serving as a mentor and coach, facilitating outdoor activities, providing homework help, encouraging self-confidence, and more. The Afterschool Counselor also participates in outdoor games such as kickball, dodgeball, soccer, and basketball with children.
What You’ll Do:

What You’ll Do:
- Promote positive self-image by listening, responding, and encouraging independence
- Encourage children to foster a community-minded classroom through sharing, caring, and self-regulation. Support children's self-regulation development using techniques from Conscious Discipline.
- Develop a balanced schedule of activities that includes learning, play, and mealtimes. Engage with young children in various activities, incorporating both indoor and outdoor games.
- Maintain positive communication with parents
- Share values through role modeling and small group discussions
- Manage adherence to quality standards in accordance with both center’s vision and state and local / state requirements
- Maintain a personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement
- Work with staff, children, and parents to foster a team environment
- Develop a thoughtful and engaging program appropriate for preschool children, and support children with their homework.
- Encourage children to develop a community-spirited classroom through sharing, caring and self-regulation
What We Need from You:
- High School Diploma or GED
- FL DCF 45-hour training required and Staff Credential highly preferred

- Minimum of 1 year of professional early childhood education or experience preferred
- Must clear a full level II DCF background check
- Strong understanding of children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development to ensure a safe and stimulating classroom environment where students are engaged and encouraged to succeed
