Position Overview:

The Residential Counselor Team Lead (RCTL) works within the Recovery and Person-Centered Strengths model supporting the implementation of the Service Plan. The RCTL provides individualized case management and skills training services consistent with the individual’s Personal Recovery/Service Plan with specific focus on skill acquisition, building and repairing natural supports and community integration. The RCTL is required to document all of the services in the agencies' electronic medical record software. The RCTL will implant the daily treatment activities detailed on the house activities calendar which is developed by residential QMHP, program supervisor, and house administrator. The RCTL is also responsible for some house administrative support duties as described below.

Essential Job Functions:

CLINICAL DUTIES

  • Delivers therapeutic services using evidence based/promising or best practice approaches with individuals, families, natural supports and groups as determined by the individuals in the treatment plan.
  • Practices using Hope Inducing Behaviors.
  • Coordinates services and communication with community providers as appropriate. Facilitate obtaining PCP, other medical assistance, housing, employment, socialization, money management, therapy and fiscal benefits.
  • Provides, in collaboration with residential QMHP, psychoeducation activities with individuals, family members/natural supports.
  • Provides skills training and case management to individuals, families and group.
  • Ensures that all residential clients have entitlements and benefits, including OHP, in place.
  • Completes accurate, timely clinical documentation of the highest quality and consistent with agency standards, rules and regulations.
  • Consistently meets individual service hours and timely documentation standards.
  • Provides crisis prevention and intervention services by being included in a weekly rotation of residential’s support phone. Coverage of support phone will be in conjunction with house administrator and may require reporting in-person on-site during weekends and afterhours.
  • Implements clinical interventions as defined by Program Supervisor and QMHP therapist.
  • Maintains and implements a treatment services calendar of daily groups, activities, & outings for the residents. Calendar will be developed by residential QMHP, program supervisor, and house administrator.

ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES

  • Collaborates with Residential Treatment Home Administrator and Program Director to provide training to new Residential Counselor (RC) staff on house operations and other RC position expectations and provides retraining as required.
  • Assist Administrator with menu planning and food purchasing. Ensure adequate supplies of staple foods for a minimum of one week and perishable foods for a minimum of two days will be maintained on the premises
  • Provide medication administration and auditing of medication-related documents.
  • Insure all medication changes from LMP and PCP are immediately documented on the MAR. and implemented into the resident’s medication regime.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Essential Job Requirements:

Education/Experience:

  • Must meet qualifications for a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA). Which is either a Bachelor’s Degree in human/social services field (social work, public or community health, psychology) or related field, or 3 years of experience working in human services.
  • Valid Oregon Driver’s License and good driving record.

Basic Requirements:

  • Ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to apply mental health assessment, treatment and service terminology. Ability to implement skills development strategies, and identify, implement and coordinate the services and supports identified in the Service Plan.
  • Ability to work using Recovery and Person-Centered Strengths principles.
  • Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, community partners and families/natural supports.
  • Knowledge intervention and treatment methods, strategies and techniques.
  • Ability to work as a multidisciplinary team member in a positive and productive manner.
  • Computer skills, word processing and data entry
  • Must be willing to transport clients and/or meet clients in the community as needed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to use appropriate technology to complete job requirements.
  • Stand and/or sit for long periods of time.
