Licensed Mental Health Clinician: LCSW-C/ LICSW/ LPC

Full-time position for a licensed clinical social worker/licensed professional counselor for outpatient program serving law enforcement officers.

The Metropolitan Police Employee Assistance Program (MPEAP) is a confidential outpatient counseling program serving the Metropolitan Police Department’s (MPD) sworn members. Services address a broad range of clinical issues including, but not limited to marital, relationship problems, depression & anxiety, grief & loss, critical incidents, and exposure to trauma, job stress, and alcohol problems. The profession of law enforcement places officers at an increased risk for trauma-related sequelae. The MPEAP provides long-term professional care to help members manage these impacts both on and off the job.

Qualifications:

  • LCSW-C, LICSW, or Licensed Professional Counselor/LPC
  • Master’s degree in social work or professional counseling from an accredited university
  • Must be licensed in the District of Columbia
  • 5 years’ experience providing direct psychotherapy services
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and vehicle
  • Live within 25 miles of the District of Columbia
  • Successfully pass background and criminal checks

Job Description:

  • Intake assessments, long-term and brief psychotherapy, critical incident debriefing, individual, and couples’ therapy.
  • Knowledge and training in trauma and addictions is a plus.
  • Position requires minimum of one week per month “On Call” duties to respond to critical incidents/client emergencies during and after business hours.
  • The candidate must possess a strong work ethic, proven clinical skills, and sensitivity to a multicultural work setting.
  • The program is collaborative and congenial with a small staff. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively with peers.
  • 40-hour/5-day workweek on-site
