Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of addiction and mental health issues, providing support and guidance to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and facilitating individual and group counseling sessions. The Substance Abuse Counselor will work collaboratively with clients to promote recovery and improve overall well-being.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive diagnostic evaluations to assess clients' substance use and mental health needs.
- Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
- Provide mental health counseling and psychotherapy to clients using evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral therapy.
- Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Utilize knowledge of ICD-9 coding for proper documentation of diagnoses.
- Engage in behavior management strategies to support clients in their recovery journey.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure holistic care for clients.
- Facilitate group therapy sessions to foster peer support and shared experiences among clients.
- Stay informed about the latest developments in addiction medicine and behavioral health practices.
Experience
- CADC certification
- Previous experience in substance abuse counseling or mental health services is preferred.
- Familiarity with medical terminology and documentation practices is essential.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Knowledge of addiction medicine principles and behavioral health interventions is highly desirable.
