About Job

Purpose
The Youth Programming MHP delivers engaging prevention and diversion programs to youth referred by the court system and community partners. This role supports youth in developing social-emotional skills, building resilience, and making positive choices through group facilitation, mentoring, and outreach.

Working under the Director of Youth Services and Programming and the Youth Prevention Services Coordinator, the facilitator creates inclusive, supportive spaces that promote accountability and personal growth. A flexible schedule is required, including some evenings and travel throughout DeKalb County and the broader service area.

Duties

  • Facilitate and lead prevention and diversion groups
  • Facilitate and lead classroom SEL push-ins
  • Ensure accurate and consistent documentation of client progress for both individual and group services
  • Conduct crisis intervention when appropriate
  • Provide external referrals when necessary
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with schools, police departments, hospitals, and Juvenile Court Services in the DeKalb County district
  • Participate in approved community activities and partnerships that promote collaboration and outreach
  • Supports coordination of Alternative to Suspension services
  • Conduct initial and updated assessments, formulate initial and updated treatment plans, maintain regular progress notes, complete additional assessments as needed (risk assessment, inventories, etc.)
  • Formulate appropriate medically necessary diagnoses
  • Provide mentoring as needed
  • Support summer camp as needed
  • Support agency and program fundraisers/outreach through planning and implementation
  • Establish and maintain meaningful program objectives and outcomes

Requirements

  • Prior experience working with youth, preferably in an educational, counseling, or youth development setting.
  • Familiarity with social and emotional learning (SEL) concepts and practices.
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, or a related field
  • Must have a driver's license, working vehicle, and active insurance
  • Must have COVID-19 vaccination

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, or related field
  • Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
