The Department of Veterans Affairs Southeast Louisiana Healthcare System (SLVHCS) is seeking a full-time Staff Psychologist (Suicide Prevention Coordinator) for the Community Based Outpatient Clinic in New Orleans, LA.   The Staff Psychologist (Suicide Prevention Coordinator) function as the coordinator for care of veterans at suicide risk and an advisor to the Mental Health Chief, facility leadership, program managers, and staff concerning suicide prevention strategies for individual patients and for the facility and veteran community as a whole. Provides screening, assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of depression and anxiety-related disorders, as well as other mental health conditions, with an emphasis on the application of time-limited, evidence-based approaches. Performs capacity/competency assessments when there are questions about a patient's ability to make medical decisions, perform other specific functions, or live independently. Provides behavioral medicine interventions to manage pain, disability, address sleep problems, facilitate weight loss, promote smoking cessation, and enhance medical compliance.     Work Schedule:    Monday-Friday, 7:30 am- 4:00 pm. subject to change based on the needs of the facility. Telework: Yes-Ad-hoc We offer: Salary range:  $87,165 to - $161,507 per year • Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP)Assistance with payment of outstanding medical school loans up to $200K over 5 years max • Malpractice: Liability protection • 13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year •  Federal Retirement Plan •  Separate 401K with partial agency match •  Health, Dental & Vision Insurance Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.       Job Requirements Qualifications: • Must be a U.S. Citizen (*will consider non- citizen candidates*) • Full and unrestricted license from any U.S. State • Doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA), the Psychological Clinical Science Accreditation System (PCSAS), or the Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) • Completed a professional psychology internship training program that was accredited by APA or CPA • Ability to use measurement-based care to advance treatment. (Preferred) • Providing evidence-based care for a variety of diagnoses in a general mental health setting. (Preferred) • Must be highly motivated, team-oriented, and committed to the care and good health of our Veterans.
