School Social Worker / Counselor – Washington, DC

Location: Washington, DC

Pay Rate: $40–$50+ per hour (based on experience)

Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday (8:00am–4:00pm; early dismissal on Fridays possible)

Contract: August 25 – December 2025 (FMLA coverage; strong potential to extend)

Age Range/Caseload: General education & students with IEPs (individual & group counseling in inclusion classrooms)

School Sites: 1 campus

Position Overview

Phaxis Education is partnering with Creative Minds International Public Charter School in Northwest DC to fill a School Counselor or Social Worker position for the fall semester. The school is known for its inclusive practices, diverse student body, and leadership that values whole-child wellness.



This is a full-time FMLA coverage role starting August 25, 2025, through December, with strong potential to extend. The hourly rate is $40–$50+ depending on experience.

What You’ll Do



  • Provide individual and group counseling to students in both general education and special education settings




  • Deliver SEL interventions in inclusion classrooms




  • Collaborate with teachers, staff, and families to support student success




  • Participate in IEP and 504 plan development and implementation




  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation per district standards




  • Contribute to a school culture that supports wellness, diversity, and inclusion








What You Bring



  • Master’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, or a related field (required)




  • Active or eligible DC certification/licensure as a school counselor or social worker (preferred)




  • Experience in school-based or pediatric counseling settings (preferred)




  • Ability to build rapport with a diverse student population and staff




  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills




  • Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship (preferred)
