Recreation/Experiential Therapist Opportunity

Benchmark Behavioral Health has an opportunity for a PRN Recreation/Experiential Therapist. Hourly rate: $25.00 per hour - Additional pay of $2.00 to $4.00 per hour if you work after 2:00pm Monday thru Thursday or $4.00 for weekends. PRN/As-needed - Monday - Saturday between 9:00am - 4:30pm. Location: 592 West 1350 South, Woods Cross.

Benchmark Behavioral Health Systems believes that therapeutic recreation has a unique role in the psychological and behavioral improvement of the adolescents we treat. Our therapeutic recreational staff use individual and group therapy, play, recreation and other activity based interventions to maximize our patient's functioning and promote quality of life. If you have a strong interest in providing quality therapeutic recreation to adolescent boys who have experienced severe personal trauma, this is the job for you. You will also be working with an awesome team of multidisciplinary professionals that you can rely on to assist you in coordinating a solid foundation of quality care and mental health treatment.



Role & Responsibilities

Your role & responsibilities will include:

  • Create and lead recreation/experiential groups and activities based on your skill sets (music, dance, art and recreation therapy, etc) in the gym or classroom.
  • Complete daily progress notes and other documentation using the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Attend monthly department and facility wide meetings.
  • Provide crisis de-escalation for residents.
  • Attention to detail on supplies used in the room. As needed, support CTRS staff with group outings in the community.


Qualifications

Your qualifications will include:

  • BS Recreation Therapy required, Utah TRS certification or CTRS highly preferred.
  • Valid, clean driver's license.
  • Prefer experience working with adolescents who have behavioral and/or mental health issues, but not required.
  • Understanding of therapeutic activities for varying developmental ranges and be capable of working independently.
  • Experience with organizing indoor/outdoor and on/off campus activities.
  • Must be able to pass a background check and pre-hire drug screen and be at least 21 years of age.
