About Job

The Social Worker will provide day-to-day supervision and management of volunteer social workers, including training, administrative tasks, and record keeping. This position will also provide client services to survivors and their families that are being served by Texas Advocacy Project.

Position Description

  • Complete psychosocial assessments on survivor/client referrals, conduct danger assessments, create advanced safety plans with survivors, and utilize motivational interviewing to assess the survivor/client’s short and long-term needs and goals.
  • Provide support for Protective Orders and CVC applications, including victim impact statements and criminal justice advocacy.
  • Support survivors and TAP attorneys with trauma informed trial preparation.
  • Work closely with attorneys to address survivor/client concerns and barriers, prepare survivor/client for court, and provide additional psychosocial support.
  • Connect and support survivor/clients in accessing community resources and establish a coordinated check-in system to assess survivor/client barriers, as well as provide crisis counseling and management.
  • Establish and develop relationships with community partners including but not limited to shelters, non-profits, community leaders, faith-based communities, law enforcement, and mental health agencies.
  • Provide warm referrals to community agencies, when possible
  • Responsible for all onboarding of new social work volunteers and interns.
  • Work with leadership to strategize and provide professional development staff training, on topics such as provision of trauma-informed client services, preserving mental health, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Guide staff communication with survivors and enhance legal outcomes for all TAP clients.
  • Responsible for planning and implementing training to members of the judiciary, law enforcement, advocates, and others in order to expand our services and ensure best practices throughout Texas.
  • Consistently improve skills and knowledge through participating in continuing education courses, training, and community boards.
  • Direct management of social work volunteers and interns consisting of recruitment, retention, maintaining accurate timekeeping, reports, files, training requests, and evaluations with input from Manager and SVP Of Client Services.
  • Manage caseloads.
  • Work with SVP to establish plans and deadlines for grant records and deliverables and other duties as determined by the supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • LMSW or LCSW licensed by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and manage the social work team.
  • Must have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to delegate and prioritize duties with strong attention to detail.
  • Managing Social Worker must be neat, organized, professional, and driven to succeed.
  • They must have a strong work ethic with an inherent understanding of their ethical duties.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Skilled in client intake and interviewing.
  • Must be able to provide information to clients in crisis and be able to help focus individuals in a compassionate and respectful manner.
  • Experience with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, or trauma preferred. Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Must have basic computer skills and familiarity with database management and record keeping.
  • Proficient in Spanish strongly preferred.


Salary range $65,000-$85,000. Compensation is commensurate with experience. Texas Advocacy Project provides health insurance, malpractice insurance, CLE and State Bar dues are paid, and you have the opportunity to participate in the Project’s matching retirement plan.
