About The Helix School

The Helix School serves children with mild to moderate autism, ages 5–22, across the Bay Area. Our mission is to nurture and develop each student’s potential through an evidence-based, integrated curriculum tailored to their developmental level, sensory processing differences, and emotional regulation needs. Our committed staff includes educators, occupational and speech therapists, behavioral specialists, and mental health professionals. We also collaborate with Bay Area public school districts to provide supportive services. Visit our website at www.thehelixschool.org for more information.

  • Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals—including writing Present Levels, tracking goal progress, and proposing new objectives—for nonpublic school students and private school students on your caseload
  • Collaborate as part of an interdisciplinary team, including speech, occupational, behavioral, and educational specialists, plus the clinical director
  • Attend weekly clinical team meetings
  • Support crisis intervention and develop safety plans for students with elevated needs
  • Conduct family check-ins and deliver parent education
  • Report directly to the Clinical Director

Qualifications

  • Valid California license or associate-level registration as one of the following: social worker, marriage and family therapist, clinical counselor, psychologist, school counselor (PPS credential), or school psychologist
  • Experience delivering mental health services in school-based environments
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders
  • Comfortable working flexibly in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated integrity, credibility, and dedication to the mission of The Helix School
  • Passion for supporting students with special needs and their families
  • Experience with a range of disabilities—including autism, learning disabilities, and emotional/behavioral disorders—and familiarity with special education and IEP processes
