About Job

Ingenuity Prep is a supportive school community dedicated to academic rigor and civic leadership, preparing students for the path to colleges and careers of their choosing. Our innovative instructional model promotes small-group learning for students, collaborative teaching teams, and robust coaching and professional development opportunities for teachers and staff. We are one of the highest-performing schools in Ward 8 and proud recipients of a Bold Performance School award. We are looking for a Graduate Social Work Intern to join our Student Support and Wellness team! As an Intern of the Student Support and Wellness team, they will be responsible for supporting our Middle and Elementary students' social needs, serving as a thinking partner to ensure that students are receiving the services they need to be successful both academically and socially/emotionally. The School Occupational Therapist will report directly to the Director of Student Wellness. The mission is to close the opportunity gap for students and families in Southeast D.C. by providing an exemplary educational option. The model pairs high expectations with high support, growing great teachers who lead high-expectation and high-support classrooms. Students outperform their neighborhood peers on rigorous, national, college-track assessments. Responsibilities include providing Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons to students in classrooms, managing tier 2/pullout small groups to provide support with issues such as belonging, social skills, hygiene, anger management, supporting a caseload of general education and/or 504 students, and serving as a case manager for students requiring attendance interventions and family support. Work hours are Tuesday - Friday 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM. The role is in person, on-site at school. Candidates should be enrolled in a Masters of Social Work (MSW) program, have at least 6 months of relevant experience (internship or full time job), be available to work starting summer 2025 to April 2026, and work approximately 20-24 hours per week. A strong belief that academic success and emotional wellness go hand in hand is important. Ingenuity Prep does not discriminate based on protected characteristics and requires Covid-19 vaccination prior to the first day of employment.
