Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Scheduler to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing patient appointments, ensuring efficient scheduling, and providing exceptional customer service. This position requires a strong understanding of Wellsky/Kinnser, patient case management, the ability to multitask and manage and effectively communicate with medical professionals, medical facilities, and patients. The Medical Scheduler will be responsible for maintaining accurate patient records while adhering to HIPAA regulations.

Duties

  • Schedule patient appointments efficiently while considering provider availability and patient needs.
  • Verify insurance information and perform insurance verification for all scheduled appointments.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA standards.
  • q Directs all daily patient referral and intake operations including providing direct oversight of the establishment and implementation of intake policies.
  • Ensures compliance with all state, federal, and CHAP referral/intake regulatory requirements.
  • Directs the implementation of improved work methods and procedures to ensure patients are admitted in accordance with policy.
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with current and potential referral sources.
  • Ensures seamless transition of patients to home care by providing direct oversight of patient education and preparation for home care, plan of care initiation, and coordination of care with multiple service providers.
  • Ensures maximum third party reimbursement through direct oversight of insurance verification and authorization processes.
  • Assists the Executive Director/Administrator in the preparation of an annual budget for the intake department and monitors allocation of resources according to budgetary limitations.
  • Provide clerical support including filing, typing, and managing multi-line phone systems.
  • Communicate effectively with patients regarding their appointments and any necessary pre-visit instructions.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize scheduling efficiency and patient flow.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor while providing excellent customer service to patients and their families.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a medical office or clinic setting is preferred.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, coding (CPT, ICD), and billing processes is essential.
  • Proficiency in Wellsky/Kinnser.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite; typing proficiency is required .
  • Excellent phone etiquette and interpersonal skills are necessary for effective patient service.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of health information management practices and HIPAA regulations is essential.
  • Previous experience in administrative roles within healthcare settings will be considered an asset.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
