    QUALIFICATIONS:
    Minimum of Level 6 Certification

    Minimum of Educational Specialist degree in school psychology.

    Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.


    PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Assesses difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnostic practices.

    Administers tests, discusses placements and/or alternative treatment methods for all exceptional and selected new students.

    Helps identify within the school all types of exceptional children.

    Maintains case records on all referred students.

    Recommends corrective procedures.

    Confers with teachers and parents whenever necessary.

    Attends case conferences on the placement of individual students.

    Serves as a consultant on mental health topics for instructors in the school.

    Interprets school psychological services to teachers and parents.

    Prepares and submits required reports as directed.

    Cooperates with personnel of community health, social welfare agencies, and other appropriate agencies.

    Attends staff, professional, and interagency meetings.

    Assists with in-service training of school personnel.

    Travels as necessary to assigned schools; transports by privately owned vehicle materials needed for student evaluation/diagnosis.

    Keeps abreast of new developments in the field.
