The PRN Psychiatrist provides therapy and/or medication management as needed to identify, diagnose, and treat patients under their care. This is a flexible, as-needed role with no benefits or paid time off.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide clinical services at or above customary practice standards, within qualifications and experience, and in adherence to AMA medical ethics and specialty-specific guidelines.
- Conduct diagnostic assessments using the bio-psycho-social model through discussion, observation, and analysis.
- Identify psychiatric conditions according to the DSM-5.
- Develop treatment plans through multidisciplinary collaboration.
- Initiate and manage psychopharmacologic treatments.
- Order and interpret laboratory and diagnostic tests as needed.
- Coordinate with healthcare professionals when hospitalization is required.
- Provide psychoeducation to patients and families.
- Work collaboratively with medical assistants to optimize clinical workflow and patient care.
- MD or DO required.
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited psychiatry residency preferred.
- Current medical license in state of practice.
- Current and unrestricted DEA registration in the state of practice.
- ABMS board certification in psychiatry.
