Job Summary

Under general supervision, the Behavioral Support Specialist is responsible for scheduling clients for psychological or behavioral assessments, preparing testing materials, administering standardized tests, and assisting with the development and implementation of behavior management and/or skill acquisition plans. The role supports therapeutic goals by collecting client data, evaluating progress, and training direct care staff in behavioral intervention strategies.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Schedule clients for behavioral or psychological testing and prepare necessary materials
  • Administer and score standardized assessments under the supervision of a licensed professional
  • Develop and implement behavior intervention and skills acquisition plans in accordance with regulatory guidelines
  • Observe, document, and evaluate clients' physical and mental conditions using standardized tools and observational techniques
  • Maintain client confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and agency policies
  • Monitor client progress and update treatment goals in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team
  • Prepare, maintain, and submit required treatment records, reports, and documentation
  • Provide training to direct care staff in behavior modification and intervention strategies
  • Assist in gathering client data through interviews, observations, assessments, and records reviews

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related behavioral science field from an accredited college or university
    OR
  • Certification as an addiction counselor from the Georgia Addiction Counselors Association (GACA) or an equivalent nationally recognized certification body

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates who possess the following will be given additional consideration:

  • Experience working with justice-involved or at-risk youth in a behavioral health or correctional setting
  • Knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), or similar behavioral methodologies
  • Experience in administering and scoring standardized assessments
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and case management documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to train and support direct care staff
  • CPR and First Aid certification
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) proficiency is a plus
