Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Academic Counselor to join our team. This role is pivotal in providing academic guidance and support to students, helping them navigate their educational journeys effectively. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in education administration, academic advising, and mentoring, along with excellent communication and analysis skills. The Senior Academic Counselor will work closely with students, faculty, and staff to foster an environment conducive to academic success.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling to students regarding academic programs, course selection, and career pathways.
- Conduct interviews with prospective students to assess their needs and guide them through the enrollment process.
- Utilize Ellucian and PeopleSoft systems for managing student records and tracking academic progress.
- Develop and implement mentoring programs aimed at enhancing student engagement and retention.
- Collaborate with faculty to create supportive learning environments that address diverse student needs.
- Analyze student data to identify trends and develop strategies for improving academic outcomes.
- Participate in recruiting efforts by representing the university at various events and outreach activities.
- Deliver presentations on academic programs, resources, and support services to groups of students and stakeholders.
Experience
- Proven experience in education administration or a related field is essential.
- Strong public speaking skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences effectively.
- Background in academic advising or counseling, with experience working directly with students.
- Familiarity with Ellucian or PeopleSoft systems is preferred.
- Demonstrated ability in mentoring and teaching, showcasing a commitment to student success.
- Excellent communication skills are required for effective interaction with students, faculty, and staff.
- Strong analytical skills for assessing student performance data and implementing improvement strategies.
