POSITION:
WIC Breastfeeding Peer

JOB DESCRIPTION:
Have ongoing, documented contact with the pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum WIC participants following policies and procedures of the Ohio WIC Program. Contacts primarily made at the clinics, or on the telephone but may include outside of normal business hours. Offer information and support to the community and to participants concerning: Basic lactation information. Make referrals to the Lactation Consultant, Supervisor, or other appropriate health care professional when appropriate. May assist with group classes, clinic and community displays/events, and conduct breastfeeding support meetings.

Assist with maintenance of the Seneca County WIC Nutrition and Breastfeeding Support Facebook page and post related information and education for the community. Perform related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Has previous experience with breastfeeding, having breastfed or provided their own expressed breastmilk to at least one baby; must be familiar with WIC, a former or current participant preferred; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals and groups; ability to present ideas clearly and concisely; ability to maintain information in strict confidentiality; understanding of office equipment, including computers, with a knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook and Powerpoint; ability to operate a motor vehicle.

Must possess valid Ohio Driver License.

Must complete State mandated training; and obtain 6 hours of continuing education credit per year in the field of lactation

COMPENSATION: Pay Grade 1: $11.66-15.60 per hour, based on experience.
