Position Title: Senior Behavior Therapist/BCaBA

Service Area: Ignite Child Development Services, WI
Reporting Relationship: The Senior Behavior Therapist may be supervised by a BCBA or Clinical Director
FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary:
The Senior Behavior Therapist/BCaBA provides clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols, based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, to children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in home, community, and school settings. The Senior Behavior Therapist will collect data on programs, assist with parent training, and support the BCBA with initial assessments for incoming clients.
For certain special assignments—such as cases with payors that require BCaBA-level supervision or the direct supervision of Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs)—the Senior Behavior Therapist must hold an active Board-Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA) credential.

Education and Experience:
Required:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech and Hearing Services, or a related field and 2,000 hours of supervised experience with children diagnosed with ASD; OR
  • Master’s Degree in Psychology, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech and Hearing Services, or a related field and 400 hours of supervised experience with children diagnosed with ASD.
Additional Requirement for Special Assignments:
  • Active BCaBA certification for assignments with payors requiring BCaBA-level supervision or when supervising RBTs.

  • Be able to travel to various program locations and work a flexible schedule (evenings and weekends may be required)
  • Hold an active BCaBA certification when assigned to cases requiring BCaBA-level supervision or direct RBT supervision, per payor requirements

Essential Duties and Functions:
  • Maintain a clinical caseload with a billable services expectation of .625%
  • Provide direct client care as needed
  • Responsible to cover direct sessions for BT cancelations and make up sessions as needed
  • Writes program descriptions for client programs in a timely manner
  • Probes client targets and assessment areas for development of treatment plans
  • Utilizes assessment tools and social validity to identify programs that can be added to client programming
  • Assist BCBA with training of BTs to follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols
  • Collect, record, and summarize data on observable client behavior
  • Completes monthly graphing of client programming
  • Utilize safe & appropriate procedures when working with clients
  • Assist BCBA with skill acquisition and behavior reduction assessments
  • Create stimuli and provide other client materials in a timely manner
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment
  • Uploading monthly data to client files (Weekly data and session notes)
  • Assisting with initial assessments for incoming clients
  • Collaborate with treatment team including client, parents and caregivers, outside professionals, BCBA, Senior Therapist, RBT and co-workers

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Is responsible for the overall supervision, direction, coordination, and evaluation of an intervention team. Independently carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems independently.
  • Supervise clinical staff in the delivery of Autism intervention, from both a managerial and clinical perspective
  • Supervise, observe, coach, and mentor clinical staff on clinical and behavioral competencies
  • Independently conduct performance reviews of clinical staff and recommend pay increases consistent with established guidelines
  • Independently address performance concerns with clinical staff and administer discipline consistent with Ignite policy
  • Serve as an escalation point for resolution of client concerns regarding delivery of Autism intervention
  • Train and develop staff and communicate changes in process, program, or policy to them in order to ensure operations run smoothly and efficiently
  • Partner with intake staff to assess clients and assign cases to clinical staff based on current caseload and client needs
  • Oversee effective hiring, staffing, and scheduling to ensure delivery of quality services
  • Hold an active BCaBA certification when supervising RBTs for payors who require BCaBA-level supervision

Related Training:
  • Responsible for completing and maintaining all required certifications and trainings once employed including, but not limited to: BCaBA, HIPAA, and Mandated Reporter trainings and other company in-services and trainings as directed by supervisor
