Position Responsibilities:
The individuals in these positions will be primarily responsible for providing remote therapy sessions for a clinical trial comparing two different therapies to support adults in the process of eating disorder recovery. Additionally, interventionists may conduct clinical assessments for various research studies conducted by the Research on Excessive, Persistent, and Emotion-Based Actions and Traits (REPEAT) Lab. Most of the studies in the REPEAT Lab investigate the neurobiology and treatment of eating disorders and other disorders characterized by behavioral rigidity (e.g., obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders). These positions will also involve participating in supervision and administrative meetings and completing related documentation in collaboration with the research team. The Interventionist will receive training and supervision in the study protocol(s), therapies, and assessments and will report to the Principal Investigator.
This position can be completed in person in Richmond, VA or remotely from another location within the United States.

Job-Specific Duties:
The Clinical Interventionists will be responsible for conducting research therapy sessions and clinical assessments for studies involving individuals with eating disorders and other psychological concerns. Under the direction of the PI, the incumbent will collaborate with other members of the clinical research team to ensure all federal, state, university, and protocol requirements are followed, institutional research objectives are met, and that ethical obligations are kept.
Job activities may include but are not limited to:
- Providing weekly remotely-delivered individual therapy sessions to study participants in the process of recovery from an eating disorder
- Conducting diagnostic interviews and psychiatric assessments to evaluate participants for enrollment in research studies
- Collaborating with research staff and investigators to determine eligibility of research participants
- Maintaining regulatory and compliance requirements, including appropriate documentation/records of participant progress
- Performing other clinical tasks (e.g., risk assessment) as needed to support the research operations of the lab
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree or higher in an accredited clinical or counseling psychology program, social work program, marriage and family therapy program, or other discipline with training in mental health assessment and intervention
- Demonstrated experience working with clinical populations with psychological concerns, including in assessment and intervention contexts
- Excellent communication, writing, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated experience working within and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team
- Ability to prioritize work requirements and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage time effectively and perform daily tasks with minimal supervision
- Minimum of 6 hour commitment per week
Preferred Qualifications:
- Clinical and/or assessment experience with eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and/or similar clinical populations
- Clinical experience with cognitive-behavioral and/or mindfulness-based therapies
