Medical Temporaries, Inc. has two Part Time/Direct Hire positions available for Certified Substance Abuse Counselors to work in Norfolk, VA on Saturday and Sundays only for five hour shifts to facilitate group sessions .
Job Title : Certified Substance Use Counselor (CSAC) or LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) or LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker)
Requirements :
- Licensed with LPC or LCSW or certified with CSAC
- Experience in outpatient mental health, medical settings, and/or educational counseling centers preferred.
- Has working knowledge and experience in use of medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures. This includes acute, chronic, and traumatic illnesses/injuries.
- Able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with people from varied backgrounds.
- CSAC, LCSW, LPC
Hours : around 5 hours per day, Saturday & Sunday (around 10 hours per week)
Type : Direct Hire
Salary: $15,080 - $16,640: (depending on experience level)
Summary :
The clinician provides clinical psychosocial assessment, individual therapy, couples, and family therapy (as applicable), group therapy and independently documents the workload in the confidential medical record system. Provides outreach presentations and will also serve as needed for student crises as they arise.
Duties :
- Independently performs case finding functions and outreach, identifying and screening students for psychosocial needs
- Independently conducts psychosocial assessments.
- Develops treatment plans in collaboration with the student and with the Student Counseling Center if applicable.
- Independently identifies high-risk patients and provides crisis intervention services, seeking to address the cause as well as the presenting complaint, coordinates family conferences and serves as liaison to family members, faculty, and other personnel.
- Develops campus education materials/modules and assists with Peer Counselor activities as assigned.
- Independently provides consultation services to staff regarding the psychosocial needs of students and the impact of psychosocial problems on health care and adherence to treatment plan.
- Masters Degree in Counseling from a CACREP accredited school and/or
- Masters Degree in Social Work and licensure in a state at the independent/clinical practice level.
- A terminal Masters Degree in Psychology may be considered.
- This position requires one who is student-centered, accessible, and open to providing mental health services to students.
- The successful candidate must be able to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, and administrators and serve as a liaison and student advocate when needed
- Must possess the ability to deal with student crises as they arise
- Experience with outreach programming, web content management (e.g., social media), creative design (e.g., creating flyers) is desired.
