Position Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Community Mental Health Counselor to join our growing team. This role involves providing direct mental health skill-building services to adults and intensive in-home services to youth and families. The ideal candidate will have a passion for helping individuals achieve stability, independence, and improved quality of life.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide Mental Health Skill-Building Services to adults with mental health needs, focusing on enhancing daily living skills, coping strategies, and independence.
- Deliver Intensive In-Home Services to youth and families, addressing behavioral, emotional, and relational challenges.
- Develop and implement individualized service plans based on client needs and goals.
- Conduct assessments, maintain detailed documentation, and track client progress in accordance with agency and state requirements.
- Collaborate with treatment teams, families, and community resources to ensure comprehensive care.
- Meets DMAS supervision requirements depending on the services being rendered.
- Provide crisis intervention and safety planning when needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold ethical standards of care.
- Responsible for the proper and timely documentation of all information required by the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, Department of Medical Assistance Services and Premier Mental Health Services, LLC.
- Maintain and keep current all Human Resources documentation (ie: car insurance, car registration, TB test results, first aid/CPR, TOVA and any annual other trainings provided).
- Attending annual trainings.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field (Master’s preferred for certain cases).
- QMHP-A or QMHP-C certification in Virginia (Qualified Mental Health Professional – Adult/Child).
- Minimum of 1 year of experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental health disorders.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of insurance.
- Ability to pass background and reference checks.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
Preferred:
- Experience providing community-based services.
- Knowledge of Medicaid regulations and documentation standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Available to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings and some weekends.
- Valid driver's license and access to an automobile on a regular basis.
