We are seeking a NCCPSS (North Carolina Certified Peer Support Specialist)

The Certified Peer Support Specialist will function as a role model to peers; exhibiting competency in personal recovery and use of coping skills; serve as a consumer advocate, providing consumer information and peer support for clients in the Community. Using MI (Motivational Interviewing) as a model for interacting with and gauging progress with supported individuals on the caseload. Working with a caseload of up to 8 individuals for a full time position.

DUTIES :

Works with clients providing hope, encouragement, support, and self-determination. Provide on-going supportive and/or case management functions in accordance with the problems, needs, and the strategies identified within the service plan in order to help the clients to achieve the stated goals and objectives. Supporting/assisting consumers in daily decision making and resolution of minor problems. Assisting clients by finding resources, advising the consumer of processes, and encouraging follow through with proposed resolutions, locating social activities, or provide other assistance as needed. Engage client in developing healthy relationships through social activities. Accompanying clients to meetings and participates in meetings of community groups to advocate for consumer needs, leading recovery dialogues/self-help sessions with clients. Assisting the consumer with the identifying and effectively responding to or avoiding identified precursors or triggers that result in functional impairments.

Qualifications and Skills

Applicants must:

  • Demonstrate maturity in their own recovery process,
  • have a valid driver’s license
  • have reliable transportation, and
  • have moderate computer skills.
  • have no less than six months CPSS experience
  • have an active NC CPSS certification (verification prior to interview)

Required license or certification:

  • Must have an active Peer Support Specialist certification from the state of North Carolina (this will be checked through the online portal prior to scheduling interviews)

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
