Illinois Coalition for Community Services (ICCS) is a nonprofit organization who exist to empower youth, families and communities in Illinois through education, advocacy and grassroots organizing.
Overview
ICCS is seeking compassionate and dedicated Evening/Weekend Part-Time Crisis Counselors to join our team in Eastern Illinois (Shelby, Moultrie, Douglas, Edgar, Coles, Clark, and Cumberland Counties). The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mental health and crisis management, providing immediate support to individuals experiencing emotional distress. This is an ON-CALL position. Employees will be scheduled to assist in the 24/7 counseling of youth-related crises, with an emphasis on evening, overnight, and weekend shifts. No certification is required; however, a bachelor’s degree is preferred.
Duties
- Provide immediate crisis intervention and support to individuals in distress.
- Conduct assessments to determine the needs of clients and develop appropriate intervention strategies.
- Offer support and resources for families and youth.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions and treatment plans in accordance with organizational policies.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of crisis management techniques and mental health counseling practices.
- Experience working with children, primarily ages 11-17.
- Excellent communication skills, with an empathetic approach to client interactions.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to remain calm under pressure.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Employees will be paid $500.00 a month for simply securing employment within the on-call rotation, $25.00 an hour when engaged in a crisis call plus mileage, if required. $30.00 an hour when engaged in a crisis call on weekends and holidays. NOTE* The hourly pay is only when responding to a crisis call, if there is no crisis call during your ON CALL shift, you do not get crisis pay.
Must pass DCFS background check. Administrative paperwork is required when responding to a crisis call which is commensurate with the $500.00 per month. While the job is listed as remote, applicants must live in the counties of Shelby, Moultrie, Douglas, Edgar, Coles, Clark, or Cumberland in Illinois and be able to travel within these counties to crisis calls.
Excellent communication skills and timeliness a must. This is an ON-CALL position: must be able to answer the phone on your shift and respond accordingly.
