Shift: Full-Time,(Four 10-hour shifts per week)

Position Overview:
The Behavioral Health Counselor plays a vital role in supporting patients’ recovery by performing individual, group, and family counseling, as well as managing utilization review and discharge planning. This role involves effective communication and collaboration with the healthcare team to ensure safe, timely, and resourceful care. The Counselor assesses psychosocial risk factors, provides therapeutic interventions, and acts as a liaison with protective services and community agencies for cases involving abuse, neglect, guardianship, foster care, and mental health placements.

Key Responsibilities:
- Facilitate patient involvement in treatment and education through individual, group, and family counseling.
- Perform utilization review and discharge planning functions.
- Communicate complex patient and family needs to the healthcare team, modeling caring practices.
- Assess psychosocial risks, prior functioning, support systems, reactions to illness, and coping ability.
- Counsel patients and families on emotional, social, and financial impacts of illness/disability.
- Access and mobilize community and family resources to meet identified needs.
- Conduct mental health assessments upon physician referral and provide therapeutic interventions.
- Serve as the point person for child abuse/neglect, adult/elderly abuse/neglect, institutional abuse, and domestic violence cases.
- Liaise with child and adult protective teams, guardianship, foster care, and mental health placement agencies.

- 1 or more years of relevant experience.

- Develop and maintain strong community relationships with law enforcement, APS/CPS, schools, and other agencies.



Qualifications & Requirements:
- Education:- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or related field.

- Licensure:- Current licensure or license eligibility in Indiana as an HSPP, LMFT, LCSW, or LMHC/LMHC-A.
- Clinical licensure preferred LCSW.

- Experience & Knowledge:
- Relevant healthcare, mental health, or community-based experience.
- Knowledge of disease impact, human behavior, and legal mandates related to protective services.
- Strong crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
