Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital (JBHH) is a three-story, 180,000-square-foot facility committed to the highest quality, treatment, and service. Opened in 1999, JBHH consolidates evaluation, clinical treatment, teaching and research, to offer a full continuum of care for children, adolescents, adults and elderly, including crisis stabilization, inpatient hospitalization, and outpatient programs. In association with the University of Miami Leonard M. Miller School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry, JBHH offers specialized treatment for numerous conditions including depression and mood disorders, schizophrenia, suicidal ideation or behavior, anxiety and panic disorders, drug and alcohol abuse and Alzheimer's disease. JBHH also specializes in criminal justice mental health services.
Position Summary
The Department of Psychology at Jackson Health System invites applications for a full-time outpatient testing psychologist to join the Adult Psychology Service at Jackson Behavioral Health Hospital. This role centers on comprehensive neuropsychological assessment of adult outpatients, while also supporting broader psychological services through individual and group psychotherapy and inpatient consultations.
The Adult Psychology Service currently evaluates and treats a high volume of medically and psychiatrically complex patients, including those diagnosed with HIV/AIDS; Oncological and metabolic disorders (e.g., diabetes, obesity); Pre/post-surgical psychological needs; Chronic illnesses, and the full range of DSM-5 diagnoses. This position will emphasize psychological and neuropsychological testing for adults presenting with cognitive concerns related to neurological, psychiatric and systemic medical conditions including: Stroke; Memory Disorders; Concussion/TBI; Post-transplant; ADHD; Autism. Responsibilities also include neuropsychologically focused interventions, including support groups and cognitive retraining.
Applicants will be required to demonstrate expertise in writing neuropsychological testing reports, including the ability to efficiently interpret, synthesize and integrate evidence-based data into a comprehensive, culturally informed report with actionable recommendations.
The Adult Psychology Service is embedded within a training facility, and the chosen candidate will be involved in supervision of practicum students as well as our APA-accredited internship and fellowship programs. The position also offers the opportunity to participate in clinical research and didactics.
Required Criteria
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provision of psychological and neuropsychological evaluations for a diverse outpatient population referred for diagnostic clarification, treatment planning, and medical decision-making.
- Diagnoses or evaluates mental and emotional disorders of individuals and administers programs of treatment; interviews patients in clinics, hospitals, and other settings and studies medical and social case histories.
- Observes patients in various situations; selects, administers, and interprets neuropsychological, intelligence, personality, and other psychological tests to diagnose disorders, formulate plans of treatment, and provide consultation to other mental health professionals regarding test results.
- Treats psychological disorders to effect improved adjustments utilizing evidence-based psychological techniques; selects appropriate treatment approach and determines frequency, intensity, and duration of individual, group, and family therapies.
- Assesses patient progress and modifies treatment programs accordingly; communicates with and counsels family members as appropriate.
- Provides psychological consultations to other mental health professionals within hospitals, clinics, and other community-based agencies with regard to clients and/or patient care.
- Provides crisis intervention in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment.
- Participates in educational programs, in-service meetings, clinician meetings, and workshops to enhance professional development and maintain currency of methodology and techniques.
- Supervises psychology fellows, interns and practicum students in accordance with APA requirements.
- May develop and implement clinical research programs.
- Supports and maintains existing standards of the Public Health Trust, the department and the profession.
- Documents treatment in accordance with JHS policies and procedures regarding medical records; implements and adheres to policies that ensure patient confidentiality.
- Maintains current knowledge of psychology practice.
- Provides coverage for colleagues as required.
- Complies with all requirements to maintain a Florida Psychologist License.
- Ensures compliance to CARF, JCAHO, and all JHS and Department of Psychology policies and procedures.

Qualifications
Education
- Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program required
- Completion of an APA-accredited internship and postdoctoral fellowship in neuropsychology (or equivalent training).
Experience
- Generally requires at least 2 years of related experience.
License Certification
- Licensed or license-eligible in the State of Florida.
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.

Skills & Demands
Job function is often sedentary in nature and requires sitting for extended periods. Duties may require frequent standing or walking. Must be able to lift or carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. Jobs in this group are required to have close visual acuity to perform activities such as: extended use of computers, preparing and analyzing data and analytics, and other components of a typical office environment. Work Environment
Jobs in this group are required to function in a fast-paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent and stressful situations. Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members, providers, patients, insurance companies and other members of the public. Function is subject to inside environmental conditions, with occasional outdoor exposures. Exposure to various environments such as communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a hospital and medical office environment. May also be exposed to needle sticks, airborne infections, medical gases, X-Ray, chemical exposures and other potential hazards. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when exposed to infectious/clinical hospital environment.
