About Job

Description

We're Hiring: After School Counselors (Ages 1-5)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 2:45-6:00 PM

Reports to: Auxiliary Director

Compensation: $20-$22/hour

Are you passionate about early childhood education and creating nurturing, engaging environments for young learners? We are hiring three After School Counselors to join our team-each supporting a different age group: Ones, Twos, and Ages 3-5. These roles offer the opportunity to make meaningful connections with children while leading age-appropriate activities and helping to ensure a smooth end to their school day.

Available Positions

  • After School Counselor - Ones (1-year-olds)

Support toddlers who may be new to separation by providing a calm, predictable routine. Help with basic care needs, including diapering, and foster early development through sensory play, music, and movement.

  • After School Counselor - Twos (2-year-olds)

Guide toddlers through toilet training, transitions, and big emotions. Plan simple, hands-on activities that allow for choice, movement, and creativity in a structured, supportive setting.

  • After School Counselor - Ages 3-5 (Casa)

Foster independence, self-help skills, and peer collaboration. Lead structured projects, encourage problem-solving, and support positive social interaction during free play.

What You'll Do (All Roles)

  • Supervise and lead a small group of children in a warm, structured after school environment.
  • Plan and guide simple, age-appropriate activities such as music, movement, and sensory play.
  • Plan and prepare weekly craft and thematic activities that promote cognitive, social, and emotional development.
  • Help children through daily routines like handwashing, toileting, or diapering (depending on age).
  • Create a safe, clean, and organized classroom space.
  • Use the Brightwheel app to share updates and photos with families.
  • Offer gentle, responsive emotional support and positive behavior modeling.
  • Oversee dismissal and ensure smooth handoff to caregivers.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and the Auxiliary Director as needed.

What We're Looking For

  • Confident, intuitive caregivers who connect easily with young children.
  • Able to work independently and tune into individual and group needs.
  • Patient, flexible, and comfortable supporting children through transitions and emotions.
  • Reliable, punctual, and communicative with both colleagues and families.
  • At least 1 year of experience in a school, daycare, or early childhood setting.
  • Preferred but not required: Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin, familiarity with the Montessori approach.

If you're passionate about nurturing young learners and want to work in a joyful, collaborative environment, we'd love to hear from you!

Apply now and let us know which age group(s) you're most interested in working with.

Requirements

  • 1 year experience working with children ages 1-5 in a group setting (eg. classroom, camp, enrichment classes)
  • Must be fully vaccinated for Covid
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States
  • (Optional) Fluent in Spanish or Mandarin
