Applicants must reside in the Houston area; applicants are required to have an LPC or LCSW and be certified in Counseling. Master's degree required in a related field and minimum three (3) years related professional experience in a school Counseling position.

OBJECTIVE

The Counselor provides a comprehensive counseling program for all students within the District to reduce dropout rates, improve academic performance, and increase participation in secondary and postsecondary education. Counselors consult with teachers, parents, and staff to enhance their effectiveness in helping students; they also provide support to other educational programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Creating Master Schedules.

· Coordinating CCMR programs.

· Creating and implementing Graduation Plans.

· Monitoring and Supporting Academic Development Programs.

· Coordinating Behavior Threat Assessments.

· Coordinating Social Emotional Learning Programs.

· Adhere to District policies.

· Participate in and facilitate the intervention team process.

· Guide individuals and groups of students through the development of educational, personal, social, and career plans.

· Counsel individuals and small groups of children toward social and emotional growth.

· Consult with and train teachers and staff regarding children’s needs.

· Counseling and consultation theories and practices, assessment principles and procedures, and consultation.

· Refer children with problems and their parents to special programs, specialists, and outside agencies.

· Participate in, coordinate, and conduct activities that contribute to the effective operation of the counseling program and school.

· Work with school and community personnel to bring together resources for students.

· Interpret tests and other appraisal results appropriately and communicate to school personnel, students, and their parents.

· Ensure all data is entered into the Scholar Database for the next academic year, master, and to populate individual scholar schedules.

· Plan and evaluate the counseling program.

· Ensure students are provided with positive support to achieve academic success in the classroom.

· Responsible for generating reports and evaluating the effectiveness of the program as evidenced by data.

· Responsible for generating email correspondence and letters to parents, teachers, and administrators.

· Performs other duties as assigned or required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Minimum of five years’ experience with a school district.

· Ability to work with staff and faculty at all skill levels.

REQUIRED EDUCATION

· Required: Master’s degree in a related field.

· Required: Minimum three years related professional experience.

· Required: Certification in Counseling.

· Required: LPC or LCSW.

· Required: Valid driver’s license and insurance coverage (verified annually).
