A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

As a Community Engagement Specialist, you provide direct care to people with developmental disabilities in order to help them attain and maintain their maximum potential. You plan and implement activities to enhance the skills and quality of life of the people you serve. Working with a team, you provide direct support to help them effectively participate in day-to-day activities. This often looks like transporting people to and from community-inclusive activities and providing necessary personal care. You are always careful to model appropriate social skills and behaviors. With patience and understanding, you are quick to respond to challenging situations when they occur.

As an advocate, you provide direct care to those we serve while always supporting considerations as outlined in each person's individual service plan (ISP). You assist with assessments and work closely with leadership to ensure appropriate services and supports are being provided. Leveraging your strong organizational skills, you accurately document all services rendered. Safety is a top priority for you. Therefore, you carefully maintain all needed supplies and notify your immediate supervisor of any inoperative equipment or needed materials. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 21+ years of age
• Ability to become certified in CPR and first aid
• Current driver's license, a good driving record, and the ability to safely operate a 14-person vehicle
• Physical ability to lift, carry, and move people in a safe manner

WORK SCHEDULE
