About the Role:

The OR RN Circulator plays a critical role in the surgical team, ensuring that all aspects of the operating room environment are safe, efficient, and conducive to successful surgical outcomes. This position involves coordinating patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures, acting as a liaison between the surgical team and other medical staff. The RN Circulator is responsible for maintaining sterile techniques, managing surgical instruments, and ensuring that all necessary supplies are available and prepared for each procedure. Additionally, this role requires effective communication with patients and their families to provide updates and address any concerns. Ultimately, the OR RN Circulator contributes significantly to the overall patient experience and the success of surgical interventions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
  • Associates degree in Nursing 
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an operating room setting.
  • BLS

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR).
  • Experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Advanced life support certification (ACLS).

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are sterile and ready for use.
  • Assist in the positioning of patients and provide support to the surgical team during procedures.
  • Monitor patient vital signs and respond to any changes in condition during surgery.
  • Communicate effectively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members to facilitate a smooth surgical process.
  • Document all relevant information in the patient's medical record and ensure compliance with safety protocols.

Skills:

The required skills for this position include strong clinical judgment and the ability to work effectively under pressure, which are essential for making quick decisions during surgical procedures. Excellent communication skills are vital for collaborating with the surgical team and providing clear updates to patients and their families. Attention to detail is crucial for maintaining sterile environments and ensuring that all instruments are accounted for before and after surgeries. Preferred skills, such as familiarity with EMR systems, enhance the efficiency of documentation and patient care processes. Overall, both required and preferred skills contribute to a high standard of care and patient safety in the operating room.
