About Job

Who We Are:
Founded in 1975, BAMSI is in the business of “bringing people and services together.” Over the years, we have become one of the most trusted organizations working with children, families, individuals, and seniors to enrich their lives. At its core, BAMSI is about building connections with people and services. A key component of BAMSI’s philosophy is helping the people we serve build supportive relationships with peers, neighbors, and friends in the community. It’s the people we surround ourselves with that most impact our quality of life and give us the inspiration to follow our passions.

Why BAMSI?

  • Meaningful Work: See tangible progress in the lives of those you support.
  • Training & Growth: Gain certifications (e.g., MAP) and career development.
  • Team Culture: Collaborate with dedicated professionals in a respectful environment.

What You’ll Do:

As a Residential Counselor, you’ll directly support individuals with mental health needs in a Group Living Environment (GLE), helping them build life skills, confidence, and community connections. This is more than a job - it’s a chance to be a mentor, advocate, and catalyst for growth.

Direct Care & Skill-Building

  • Teach Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Meal prep, budgeting, medication management, transportation, and more.
  • Implement Individualized Action Plans (IAPs) and behavioral strategies under clinician guidance.
  • Foster independence through 1:1 and group activities (social outings, exercise, problem-solving).

Health & Safety

  • Administer medications by MAP (Medication Administration Program) protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, safe home environment; conduct fire drills and safety checks.
  • Report incidents promptly and follow risk/safety plans.

Advocacy & Team Collaboration

  • Serve as a role model and advocate for persons served.
  • Document progress (daily notes, medication logs, financial records).
  • Attend staff meetings and assist with training new team members.

Community Engagement

  • Transport individuals to appointments, day programs, and recreational activities.
  • Connect persons served to community resources and social opportunities.

What You Bring:

  • Experience: High school diploma/GED (prior work with mental health populations a plus).
  • Skills:
    • Patience, empathy, and a passion for mentoring others.
    • Strong communication (English required; bilingual in SE MA languages preferred).
    • Basic computer proficiency (EHRs, email, documentation).
  • Physical Ability: Bend, lift (25lb - 75lb), and assist with daily tasks as needed.
  • Requirements: Valid MA driver’s license + reliable vehicle.

Lived experience? We value your unique perspective—encouraged to apply!
