What You’ll Do:
As a Residential Counselor, you’ll directly support individuals with mental health needs in a Group Living Environment (GLE), helping them build life skills, confidence, and community connections. This is more than a job - it’s a chance to be a mentor, advocate, and catalyst for growth.
Direct Care & Skill-Building
- Teach Activities of Daily Living (ADLs): Meal prep, budgeting, medication management, transportation, and more.
- Implement Individualized Action Plans (IAPs) and behavioral strategies under clinician guidance.
- Foster independence through 1:1 and group activities (social outings, exercise, problem-solving).
Health & Safety
- Administer medications by MAP (Medication Administration Program) protocols.
- Maintain a clean, safe home environment; conduct fire drills and safety checks.
- Report incidents promptly and follow risk/safety plans.
Advocacy & Team Collaboration
- Serve as a role model and advocate for persons served.
- Document progress (daily notes, medication logs, financial records).
- Attend staff meetings and assist with training new team members.
Community Engagement
- Transport individuals to appointments, day programs, and recreational activities.
- Connect persons served to community resources and social opportunities.
What You Bring:
- Experience: High school diploma/GED (prior work with mental health populations a plus).
- Skills:
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for mentoring others.
- Strong communication (English required; bilingual in SE MA languages preferred).
- Basic computer proficiency (EHRs, email, documentation).
- Physical Ability: Bend, lift (25lb - 75lb), and assist with daily tasks as needed.
- Requirements: Valid MA driver’s license + reliable vehicle.
