About Job
Breastfeeding Peer Counselors are NON-PROFESSIONAL WIC staff who have training in the basics of breastfeeding and who have experience breastfeeding their own babies. A WIC Breastfeeding Peer Counselor is a paraprofessional support person who gives basic breastfeeding information and encouragement to WIC pregnant and breastfeeding mothers
REQUIREMENTS:
- Have breastfed at least one baby successfully for 6 months or longer in the past seven years.
- Is enthusiastic about breastfeeding, and wants to help other mothers enjoy a positive experience.
- Is willing to carry a cell phone either provided, or provided a stipend for, by the health department to make and receive phone calls during and after hours.
- Have reliable transportation.
